The Most Powerful Skill In Business

A 5-Step Framework for Breakthrough Results

If you use it right, marketing is the most powerful skill in business.

But most marketers, creators, and solopreneurs overcomplicate it and fail to achieve their desired results.

In today’s letter, I’m going to show you a simple marketing framework that you can use to transform your business without the guesswork.

1. Know Your Audience

The number one step in every marketing initiative is knowing your audience.

  • Who are they?

  • What are their fears?

  • What are their pain points?

  • What are their core desires?

You need to understand them as well as they understand themselves.

Your audience is moving in one of two directions:

  1. Away from pain

  2. Towards pleasure

You need to enter the conversation they're having in their mind to know which direction they're moving in.

“The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits them and sells itself." —Peter Drucker

2. Meet Them Where They Are

Find out where your audience exists online.

  • Which platforms are they on?

  • Which groups are they part of?

  • Which websites do they go to?

  • Which podcasts do they listen to?

  • Who are the influencers they follow?

  • Which newsletters they subscribe to?

Once you have the answers to these questions you need to do two things:

1. Start hanging out in the same groups, forums, and online communities where your audience is.

2. Start engaging with them and adding as much value as you can without trying to promote yourself.

3. Find A Way to Help Them for Free

Here are a few ways you can add value to your target audience without charging them for it:

  • Share useful templates

  • Create a short-email course

  • Create a short-video course

  • Create a mini-guide or e-book

  • Launch a value-packed newsletter

All you need is a simple landing page with an opt-in form so your audience can access your free resources in exchange for their email address.

Capturing email addresses is critical to build a database of potential customers. It also builds the foundation for the next step.

4. Build A Relationship with Them

Here are a few ways you can build a relationship with your audience online:

  • Join their online conversations

  • Engage by liking, commenting, and messaging.

  • Be helpful and answer their questions

  • Share compelling and relatable stories

Use the power of email to your advantage. Share exclusive content that they can't find anywhere else. Become the source.

Build email sequences that take your subscribers on a journey from a curious prospect to a loyal customer. Send at least one email a week.

5. Deliver More Value at A Profit

Create an irresistible offer and charge its worth.

Enhance your offer by:

  • Creating scarcity

  • Creating urgency

  • Adding bonuses

  • Adding guarantees

And give your offer a unique name.

The shorter and punchier the better.

And remember, always give before you ask.

“The longer you delay the ask, the bigger the ask you can make.” —Alex Hormozi
