The traditional audience-building playbook is broken.
This is what I’m seeing across clients’ accounts:
Organic reach is down on most platforms. AI has increased content volume but not distribution. And posting more rarely impacts business outcomes.
Most creators are optimising for output. Very few are optimising for structure.
Relying on one platform in is fragile. Trying to dominate five channels is unrealistic for solo operators and small teams. Multi-channel marketing works, but only when you pair the right strategy with the right resources.
So here’s the system I’m recommending to my clients instead.
The Three-Channel System
Instead of being everywhere, build three distinct assets:
Growth Channel → Attention
Portfolio Channel → Authority
Owned Channel → Relationship & Revenue
Each has a clear objective.
1. Growth Channel → Attention
Choose one platform and go all in
Post consistently, engage daily, network intentionally, start conversations, and do direct outreach like your business depends on it, because it does.
This is your discovery engine.
Its job is simple: Generate attention, start relationships, and drive traffic.
It feeds everything else, but it is not enough on its own.
Example: A consultant posting 5 sharp LinkedIn posts per week, commenting on 10 ICP posts daily, and sending 5 targeted DMs per day will outperform someone posting daily across 5 platforms with no engagement strategy.
2. Portfolio Channel → Authority
This is your proof hub where your content demonstrates your expertise, showcases your results, and establishes credibility and trust.
Use it to share high-quality assets designed to convert:
Case studies
Client testimonials
Strategic breakdowns
Framework explanations
Offer-specific presentations
You can publish once a week or once a month if it’s long-form.
This channel does two things:
Converts prospects who are evaluating you
Strengthens authority with existing clients
Example: Instead of saying “I help founders grow on LinkedIn,” you publish a detailed case study showing how you repositioned a client, increased profile views by 200%, and improved inbound quality.
3. Owned Channel → Relationship & Revenue
Both the Growth and Portfolio channels drive here.
A lead magnet, a free course, a newsletter, or an automated email sequence that nurtures your prospects and invites them to work with you.
The goal is to capture email addresses.
Once someone enters your owned channel, you control the relationship.
You nurture consistently, educate deeply, and build trust at scale.
Example: Instead of relying on sales post to convert, you capture emails and send a 5-day onboarding sequence that educates, qualifies, and presents one clear offer.
Growth platform gives you visibility.
Portfolio channel gives you credibility.
Owned channel gives you control.
What This System Actually Does
It reduces complexity without reducing leverage, improves inbound quality, and strengthens client retention. It creates predictable cash flow you can reinvest into paid growth so you’re not relying on the whims of the algorithm.
