The New Reality of Marketing and What to Do About It

Marketers are more confused than ever, and they’re confusing founders and aspiring entrepreneurs with outdated advice that no longer applies post-AI.

Here are a few things you need to know if you want marketing results that will stand the test of time. None of it is definitive. Take what applies to you, ignore the rest:

1. Most of what you know about growing an audience is becoming less effective by the minute. The “playbooks” are outdated. The current state of social media isn’t great.

The solution is to go rogue. Good old trial and error until you find what works for you. Maybe it’s one channel, maybe it’s multi-channel. But one thing I know for sure is that relying on organic methods alone isn’t going to cut it in the next few years.

2. Your personal brand is your career insurance. It’s how people find you, trust you, and decide if you’re worth working with. The best opportunities don’t go to the most qualified. They go to the most visible.

Whether you’re a founder, coach, or consultant, if you’re not showing up online with clarity and consistency, you’re invisible. People want to work with those they connect with. They want to see how you think, what you value, and what you stand for.

So if you’re serious about growth, start building your digital presence like your future depends on it, because it does.

3. AI isn’t going to solve your marketing problems. It’ll help you create more and automate better. But how helpful is it really when you don’t know what you should be creating or why you’re creating it?

Understand this: beyond a certain point, content volume has diminishing returns. If your brand strategy is flawed, AI isn’t going to save you. You have work to do.

But sure it’s more exciting to mess around with fancy technology rather than go back to the drawing board and ask the tough questions. The choice is yours.

The fundamentals haven’t changed. But the context has. If you're still clinging to what used to work, you're playing a game that no longer exists.
