Make the Algorithm Work for You

How to Build an Audience of Buyers

Social media isn’t what it used to be.

It used to be about who you followed. Now it’s about what you care about.

Every major platform has shifted from the social graph to the interest graph, showing you content based on your behaviour, not your connections.

That means if your content is relevant, the algorithm will push it to the right people, even if they’ve never heard of you.

But here’s the part most creators miss:

You don’t have to wait for that to happen. You can engineer it.

Instead of chasing 10,000 random followers, build a network of 1,000 ideal buyers.

When those people engage with you:

  1. LinkedIn shows it to more people like them

  2. You train the algorithm to prioritise your ICP

  3. You compound visibility in the right circles

Here’s how to make that work:

1. Define your ideal buyer with painful clarity

Who are they? What do they care about? What problem do they need solved right now?

2. Add 50-100 of them per week to your network

Focus on quality. Prioritise relevance over reach.

3. Post content that speaks to their problems

No fluff. No vanity metrics. Write for the decision-makers you want to work with.

4. Engage with their content daily

Stay in their orbit. Keep it natural, not needy. Visibility creates familiarity.

5. Start conversations in the DMs

Deals often begin with a simple, helpful message. Send it!

Most people are spraying content into the void, hoping to go viral. Smart creators build the kind of network that makes the algorithm work for them.
