How to Stop Posting Just to Post
Why More Content Isn't The Answer
More content is not the goal.
It’s easy to fall for the volume game, post more, ship more, stay top-of-mind. But if you're not careful, you end up in a race that rewards frequency over resonance.
You create more. You burn out. And your brand starts sounding like everyone else.
Volume helps at first. It gives you reps. It forces clarity. It exposes bad ideas.
But beyond a certain point, the marginal returns drop, and you start publishing content that’s just... content.
This is where most creators get stuck. They confuse quantity with growth.
But the real gains comes from quality. From intentional, unforgettable pieces that shape how people see you.
Think about artists. They’re not judged by how many songs they write. They’re remembered for the hits. Bands record 30 demos. Only 10 make the album.
Because the goal isn’t volume, it’s impact.
Apply that to content:
You can write 20 posts in a Google Doc. But only publish the best 5.
The rest are practice. There’s no need to publish everything.
That’s not perfectionism. That’s curation.
The internet doesn’t need more content. It needs better content.
If you want to win, raise your standard.
Here’s how:
1. Create more than you publish
Draft freely. Test angles. Explore. But before you hit publish, ask: “Would I follow someone who posted this?” or “Would I read this again?”
2. Be ruthlessly selective
Remove anything that doesn’t add clarity, credibility, or contrast. If it’s not memorable, it’s forgettable.
3. Study what holds your attention
Bingeable content isn’t loud, it’s layered. It gives you something new on the second and third time you read it or watch it. Make that your benchmark.
4. Prioritise depth over dopamine
It’s easy to chase likes. But likes don’t build leverage. Insight does. Aim to be respected, not just reacted to because you just happen to be there.
5. Ship work you're proud of
If it doesn’t move you, it won’t move them.
Think about the content you binge.
The creators you come back to. The writers who feel timeless.
None of them post for the algorithm. They post for impact.
Your goal isn’t to be everywhere. It’s to be memorable.
Know someone caught in the volume trap? Send them this.
Until next time, keep creating!
