AI Ruined The Internet

Seriously, read this and let me know your thoughts.

AI ruined the internet.

Every time you see a photo, video, or an overly polished text-post, you can’t help but question whether it’s AI or not.

Remember when you could join an interesting conversation in the comments or have a fiery debate with someone without them relying on AI to support their silly argument?

These were the good days where people with nothing valuable to say, didn’t have the means to say it.

They didn’t know what to post about, how to write well, or where to even start.

But now every man and their dog is a “content creator” or even worse an “expert”.

Back then, there was no pretending. Ok… maybe a little. But even pretending required some level of knowledge and expertise.

Now? AI can pretend for you.

I say that because that’s what AI does. It pretends. It’s not an expert on anything. It doesn’t even think in words, it thinks in probabilities.

You might be thinking it’s a good thing that AI has levelled the playing field so everyone can participate in the content game.

But is that really the case? Did AI really level the playing field or has it simply ruined it?

Think about this: Was everyone meant to be a singer?

Just because someone sings in tune, doesn’t make them a good singer. There’s more to singing than that. Just like there’s more to writing than the words themselves.

Good singing and writing have soul. They have a character, they take on a personality of their own. They make you feel something.

99% of the content I see nowadays lacks all that. There’s no oomph, no punch, no real energy behind it. It’s just flat. So many words, little to no substance.

Even creators with good ideas are misrepresenting their value by polishing the hell out of it using AI. They’re like that friend who takes great photos but goes hard on the filters. Whyyy?! That could’ve been a great photo.

I could give you so many examples across different disciplines, but the point is this: You’re smarter than AI. Use that to your advantage.

Use AI to your advantage too. But trust your own decisions. Be the final judge of the work you create, don’t outsource your perspective to the robots.

AI has many benefits. Some we haven’t even seen yet. And there’s no doubt that we’re lucky to witness and experience such a powerful technology.

But never forget that you are in charge. AI is your assistant, not the other way around.

Learn it, use it, experiment with it. But most importantly, don’t get lazy and compromise your standards in the name of efficiency.

So, what do you think? Hit reply and let me know.

Until next time, keep creating!

P.S. Zero AI was used to write this newsletter. I feel like this should be a standard note to distinguish human content from AI content. It’s kinda like helping people distinguish between organic products and non-organic ones (but at no extra cost).
